He has to determine and control the rate of flow, pressure and the temperature of the high pressure fluid in order to ensure efficient transport via pipes. Pipes can be manufactured from various materials such as concrete, wood, glass, steel, aluminum, plastic, etc. but it is the job of the piping engineer to select the material that will best suit the purpose.
